abstract

the removal of as(iii) ions from aqueous solutions has been investigated using silica ceramic under different experimental conditions of initial arsenite concentration, adsorbent dose, temperature and ph. better removal was obtained at temperature 25âºc and ph 7.5. the adsorption data have been explained in terms of langmuir and freundlich equations. the sorption kinetics was tested for the pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order reaction and intra-particle diffusion, at different experimental conditions. the results revealed that the adsorptions of as(iii) onto silica ceramic, which were found to well, fit by the freundlich isotherm. the rate constants of sorption for kinetic models were calculated and good correlation coefficients (r2 > 0.9974) obtained for the pseudosecond order kinetic model. the result indicates that under the optimum conditions, the maximum adsorption value (1.7886 mg/g) comply that the silica ceramic is an effective adsorbent for arsenite

Kinetics and Equilibrium Studies of the Removal of Blue Basic 41 and Methylene Blue from Aqueous Solution Using Rice Stems

Synthetic dyes are among the most common contaminants of the environment. Therefore, the aim of this study was investigation the removal of Basic Blue 41 (BB41) and Methylene Blue (MB) from industrial effluents by useing raw and modified rice stems. In this study raw and modified rice stems treated chemically with Citric Acid (CA) and were used to explore the potentiality of rice stems for ...

Study of the adsorption of methyl orange from aqueous solution using nickel oxide nanoparticles: Equilibrium and Kinetics Studies

Methyl orange is one dye resulted from the textile industry. The aim of this study is to test theadsorption capacity of nickel oxide nanoparticles for removing the methyl orange from aqueoussolution. The parameters studied were the effect of temperature, contact time and initial pH ofsolution. Results indicate that the removal efficiency of nickel oxide nanoparticles increases withincreasing co...

Removal of Hg(II) and Cd(II) Ions from Aqueous Solution Using Chitosan: Kinetics and Equilibrium Studies

Background and purpose: The discharge of toxic heavy metal ions into the environment is a serious pollution problem. Heavy metal ions pose adverse toxic risks to human health at very low concentrations. The aim of this paper is the adsorption potential of chitosan (CS) in the removal of Hg(II) and Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in laboratory s...

Batch Equilibrium and Kinetics Studies of Cd (II) Ion Removal from Aqueous Solution Using Porous Chitosan Hydrogel Beads

In this study chitosan hydrogel beads with porosity ~ 0.86 and diameter ~ 20.07 mm were prepared from 85 % deacetylated chitosan for removal of Cd2+ ions from aqueous solutions.  Chitosan powder was dissolved into dilute acetic acid as solvent and formed into spherical beads using a phase inversion technique. The effect of temperature, initial ...
